Hi there!
I’m Dr. Erika and a native of the Willamette Valley. I grew up in Woodburn and attended veterinary school at Oregon State University right here in Corvallis!
I had to leave the area for a few years to go and have some amazing experiences with acupuncture as well as holistic and integrative veterinary medicine across the border in Canada, but I am so glad to be back! I noticed before I left initially that there were really no options in the Corvallis/Albany area for holistic pet care or veterinary acupuncture, and I determined that I would be back to fill that need once I had the experience necessary for my Oregon veterinary license and a background in this medicine that was broad enough to serve the community.
I’ve been back now for about two months and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve had a lovely (albeit extremely hot) summer and I’m now ready to begin buckling down to the joyous work of seeing your furry family members. I’m partnering with Corvallis Cat Care in Corvallis and Cascade Animal Clinic in Springfield to bring these services to you.
In the time between now and my last time in Corvallis, a lot has changed. There are new buildings downtown, the Farmer’s Market is bigger, and there are a couple of stellar new grocery stores in town! Speaking of those, keep your eyes peeled for news regarding a cooking demo at Natural Grocer’s here in town. Sometime soon (TBD) I will be running a demo on snacks! We’ll explore cookie recipes that are appropriate for cats, dogs, and horses.
I think the thing that has changed the most, though, is me! Since leaving I’ve completed certifications in veterinary acupuncture and Tui-na from the Chi Institute, certification in veterinary spinal manipulative therapy (chiropractics) from the Healing Oasis, and have years of experience using food and herbs to help heal many conditions. I very much look forward to using these skills to help your pets. I’m already helping out rescue animals in the area with my acupuncture skills. I’ve been volunteering with Big Hearts Horse Rescue to help out a few of their fosters with acupuncture and herbs and I’m hoping to get involved with a local dog and cat rescue soon!
