Traditional Chinese (Veterinary) Medicine (TCVM)

Spread the love

TCVM differs from Western medicine in that it includes metaphysical aspects: Mental, emotional and climactic influences on diseases. This approach has been used for humans (and for animals) for at least 4000-5000 years and is still used successfully all over the world. This ancient system of disease diagnosis and treatment uses the observation of the tongue and palpation of the pulse to diagnose imbalances in the body which are subsequently corrected through one of the system’s many treatment options. Dr. Erika has received training in TCVM including acupuncture, herbal medicine, food medicine, and Tui-Na (Chinese medical massage).

TCVM is very useful for maintaining health in pets and also useful to treat a wide variety of issues such as behavior problems and anxiety, reproductive problems, urinary incontinence, congenital abnormalities, vestibular syndrome, hip and elbow dysplasia, IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), cancer including both primary treatment or support of chemotherapy or other treatments, and many other conditions.

All of our hour long TCVM appointments include a thorough conventional exam as well as a TCM assessment of patient history and exam.
